Family Acupuncture Physician
Jean-Pierre had a jump start into alternative therapies when he enrolled in massage therapy school at age nineteen. In 1997, he graduated from Florida College of Natural Health with an Associate in Health Science with special emphasis on muscle/joint function and certificates in neuromuscular therapy and sports massage. Following completion of his studies, Jean-Pierre was recognized by the dean and offered a faculty position at the school, where he taught courses in human anatomy and physiology to college students - for nine years. It was in his lectures where he discovered a profound admiration for the complexity of the human body and the body’s ability to heal itself.
Jean-Pierre’s determination to further understand the human body was just beginning. In 1998, he enrolled in an Oriental medicine program at the Acupuncture Massage College in Miami, Florida, where his focus was learning how Oriental medicine approaches disease from a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) perspective. Putting aside science and accepting energy as the vital life force that balances the entire body was initially a challenging concept for Jean-Pierre, but in his studies and practice he observed how the graceful integration of medical science with Chinese medicine has enabled him to offer a wider selection of treatments to maximize results for his patients. In 2005, Jean-Pierre completed his Master of Oriental Medicine, and became a board-certified acupuncture physician in the state of Florida. He has been in private practice since 1998 and continued lecturing anatomy and physiology courses at numerous massage and acupuncture colleges. In 2009, he shifted his attention to teaching TCM courses, including Orthopedic & Physical Assessment, Point location & Indication, Diagnostic Systems and Diagnostic Methods, and acupuncture board review classes. In 2017 Jean-Pierre took on the position of Clinical Director at the Acupuncture Massage College, leading a team of talented doctors in supervising students. In 2018 he was granted approval by NCCAOM to teach Acupoint Injection Therapy in Florida.
After practicing Chinese medicine in Miami, Florida for 17 years, Jean-Pierre relocated to Asheville, where, in addition seeing patients in private practice, he is a clinical supervisor at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts. In his private practice, Jean-Pierre excels at pain management, cosmetic acupuncture, and injection therapy among other modalities.
Integrative Medicine
JP is certified in acupoint injection therapy. He has further training in orthopedic acupuncture and nutritional medicine. His passion is in Natural Chronic Disease Management.
Chinese Medicine Professor
JP has lectured Anatomy & Physiology classes for over 25 years and currently teaches at the local acupuncture school.
